Description
Concept and Narrative
Newspaper (Bauru, SP, 1998) is a study of the ephemeral and the “passenger” nature of objects. In one of his earliest explorations with the Hasselblad system, Fernando Angulo captured this scene on the high, flat plateaus of Bauru’s Aeroclub. The composition elevates a discarded scrap of newspaper, momentarily snagged by barbed wire, to the status of a formal subject, granting it the same solemnity found in a human portrait.
Technical Mastery
Shot under strong morning light without a tripod, the photograph relies on the high resolution of the medium format negative and the precision of German Zeiss optics. The accompanying product carousel includes 150% and 300% high-resolution crops, allowing collectors to appreciate the organic grain of the Ilford FP-4 film and the incredible micro-detail preserved in the analog original.
Historical Significance
This work is a cornerstone of the artist’s early career and was featured in the acclaimed photobook Errante.
