Description
Concept and Narrative
Part of the Passenger series, Echoes: Silence in Motion is an investigation into the dynamics of time and the impermanence of the human trace within urban spaces. Taken on a Sunday morning during a traditional open-air market (feira livre) in Ribeirão Preto, the image was captured using a Hasselblad on a tripod. To achieve the ethereal “ghosting” effect of the pedestrian, a slow shutter speed of approximately 1/15 or 1/30 of a second was employed, contrasting the kinetic energy of the figure with the absolute stillness of the architectural elements.
Historical Significance
Originally registered on analog Kodak Plus-X film, this work gained further recognition when it was selected for publication in Arteria Magazine (Issue No. 12, February 2025), where it was celebrated as a prime example of “phenomenal photography” and visual poetry.
